Exclamation Water pump unit

right now the only thing i have running on my fd is the alternator, wp and air pump. i really want to get rid of that blasted air pump and relocate the alternator to where the a/c, p/s was. this would naturally pose a problem with the wp as it's the only thing that requires reverse rotation.

from what i understand the fc wp housing has direct rotation but i'm not sure if it would bolt up to the fd front cover. i know that you can just pop and swap the front cover from an fc to an fd but if i don't need to, why would i.

anybody have any insight if an fc wp will just bolt up to an fd front cover?

never tried it. the bolt patterns are the same, but the FD uses longer studs, so the FC unit may not fit cause its not "deep" enough?

also you'd have to convert to Vee belts, or find some sort of custom water pump pulley for the FC water pump.

FC water pump assy should be really cheap used, it might be worth mocking it up and see how much work it would be

if i did it i could run the wp off the rear portion of the main pulley and with the alt relocation kit i could run that off the front portion of the main pulley

i'm thinking about elec wp too but that just seems like a pita

Gotham Racing has a high output side mount alternator that mounts where the ac compressor/power steering pump was. 2nd gen gasket is different, though I have never tired to actually bolt up the pump.
