Water and Oil Temp

Hi,

At the track yesterday my temps were going to about 105deg C, now it was quite a cool today... so this wont last in Summer.

I have a big alloy radiator, about 40mm thick. and the factory twin oil coolers.

i want to hear back from anyone who has had the same problem. i was thinking of replacing the factory oil coolers with the large PWR Ones, as i already have one sitting around... how good are the stock oil coolers?

Thanks,

Adam.

To add to this, yes i have searched the forums but didnt find any specific.

I have a vented hood on the car.

i was thinking of boxing in the inlet for the factory oil coolers aswell, as there is a big hole in the top of each air inlet to them. also i was thinking of making alloy plates to force all the air going to the radiator through the radaitor, and not let it go over or around.

to be honest i have not checked what radiator cap i am using, i might have to raise that? i will check too see what it is.

i have a billion fan controller, the fans are on flat out from about 80deg, but the temp just keeps going up and up.

and last but not least, i live in Brisbane Australia so it gets to 40deg C in Summer at my local track.

ta,

Adam.

Getting a duct for your intercooler will help. Also, sealing the any gaps around the radiator is a must. Do you have the factory plastic belly pan on the car? It is important to have it in place.

I agree with Adam, check that your ducting is complete and seamless.

Since you have a FMIC, that's going to hurt the airflow coming into the radiator. The best thing you can do is either:

a. Change out the FMIC for a good sized SMIC
b. See if you can create some ducting under or around the FMIC to bring fresh air directly to your radiator. Depending on the size of your FMIC, that may or may not be possible.

Yep. Those are typical temps with an unducted FMIC.

Here is a link to some experimentation I did when I had a FMIC https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=duct

I now have a Vmount setup and cooling so much more controlled on track that I don't really have to think about it anymore.
