Wastegate upgrade

I have a 94 fd that I'm eventually lookin to move over to a single turbo setup.
I have most of the parts like FMIC, new throttle body with custom welded BOV.
The fd also has full 3 inch piping and dual intakes.
the question is, is it possible to remove or disable the internal wastegate on the stock twins and replace it with a new performance wastegate for more repsonse hp and of course a good sound

i don't think so. people have asked about it before and no one has ever done it (to my knowledge).

last time i had my turbos apart i looked at it and i'm pretty sure there is no way to disable the internal and then use an external wastegate.

its not really effective for such a thing. there is not MUCH room between the manifold and twins, if any; and you would have to either figure out the routing for the vacuum lines to maintain a sequential setup, or go non-sequential and live with lag.

think about how much planning would be needed to route all of the piping and figuring out where the WG would go and its postition.

you wont gain much horsepower going from internal to external anyway no matter what when it comes to a stock turbochager(s).

the only sensible thing would be to save up money for that single turbo conversion as you're planning on anyway.

AT LEAST get an ECU for now since you mention "full 3in exhaust" and intake.

...that's just a larger flapper installed on the stock wastegate with some porting. lots of people do this on their own anyway.

Exactly. Requires some machining. I have had Brian do several for my customers.
