wastegate solenoid?

what is that solenoid used for? what is it's role?

why do we remove it when we do the non-seq mod and not on the seq system?

Well before you can know what a the solenoid is used for you have to know what a wastegate is in the first place. IF the "door" the controls boost to keep it at restricted levels. With the non-seq you just have boost turbos spool up when enoguh gas is going though as in were the suq need the waste gate to control when and when not the 2nd turbo should spool up.

Remove it for non-seq setup? Who told you that? That's a negative. The wastegate solenoid activates the wastegate actuator, which opens the wastegate in the ECU's attempts to bleed away exhaust gas from entering the turbine to produce more than desired boost. The only reason you'd get rid of that solenoid is if you had an electronic aftermarket boost controller of some type. That solenoid is the one you keep, along with the purge control (unless you want to do something silly like eliminate the carbon canister and further reduce gas mileage).

here it is in rob robinnette sites, check no 4. By the way, i know what a wastegate is, but the rx7 is the only one to have a solenoid in parallel with the pill. I suppose it is for some sort of protection but when does it activates?

"Here’s what I did:
1. Wired turbo control door open and removed actuator rod from door mechanism.
2. Removed lines/plugged lines to charge control.
3. Removed charge relief and capped hole and vacuum line (I have since put it back on, but didn’t hook it back to the vacuum line.
4. Wastegate: Left the direct pressure line (with restrictor) in place.
Removed/capped the line that went to the solenoid.
5. Pre-control: History.
6. Installed down-pipe.
I’m waiting for my A/F gauge to come in, and I’ll be running to Home Depot for the parts necessary to turn down the boost a bit, per Broooks’ web site.
