warming up question?

When i first start my fd in the morning or anytime its not warmed up, it will die if i dont keep the rpms in the 1500-2000 range, is that the right thing to do, i mean keep the foot on the gas so it doesnt die till it warms up, or will that cause a flood?

check your idol controle solinoid and c if its working. if its not then just raise adjust teh idol screw so that it will idol at like 800 rpms. if the engine still has a problem holding idol when its first started then you have a problem and we need more info to try to help you out.. you shouldnt really rev the engine like dat when it is first started.

Revving at 1500-2000 for a couple minutes is not a 'bad' idea. Even with AWS disabled, the fast idle system starts out close to 1500.

I suggest checking the fast idle system.

how do i go about checking the fast idle system? I dont think adjusting the idle screw would do any good, when the car is warm, and im at a light, it will idle anywhere from 800-900rpms... The problem just occurs when the car is cold

You should either purchase or download the FSM (Factory Service Manual). It explains the system in detail & how to check/adjust it.

On the throttle body ther is a coolant line that heats up the "wax rod".

There are two adjustment screws for the system.
One affects the peak rpm.
The other lowers the rpm in steps as the wax rod heats up.

This system is independent of the AWS (Accelerated Warm up System).
It bypasses the throttle body & sends your rpm's to 3K on start up (unless you have the have the car in gear).
