Fuel pump and regulator questions.

I installed a higher flowing fuel pump, this has increased the amount of pressure from the tank and amount of fuel flowing..

My questions are: I have done this to my Turbo GLH-S, but the regualtor had to changed to see any gains from the pump itself.

Is this the same with the RX7 turbo cars? will I need a AFR to see the gains from the pump? Or will just the fuel pump supply that much more flow, at the same psi as stock? Also is the stock FPR a rising rate?

Thanks many times over...

Can't anyone help me out with this one..

Here is another question. How much more does the stock T2 pump flow over the N/A pump, and is there any pressure increase to the T2 pump...

Thanks,
levi

I've put a turboII pump in a n/a and monitored it on a mechanical fuel pressure gauge. The fuel rail pressure was the same as with a n/a fuel pump.

On the turboii, with the fuel pressure gauge being monitored, I notice that the as boost goes up, the pressure goes up. I saw a max fuel pressure of almost 50 psi at full boost (10 and a touch psi boost).

The flow rates are in the factory service manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com look in the Fuel section

A walbro will, from what I've seen posted on this forum, overwhelm the fpr and give you a higher pressure at idle. Never seen it in real life though.

Rail pressure at idle should be close to 28psi and if you take the vac hose off the fpr, it should go to approx 37 to 40psi. Its in the fsm at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com Fuel section.

Yes, the turbo pump flows higher than the n/a pump and the walbro outflows both of them.

I've heard this as well and will be finding out for myself shortly. I've got a stock system now and am adding the Walbro soon and hope to have dyno results shortly thereafter. I've got my fingers crossed that the digital S-AFC will be able to help. I'm looking for more boost but I also want to get it leaned out at idle and cruise too.

Sorry to barge in with nothing concrete to say.

Cheers

I know its mainly depended upon the amount of boost vs the amount of psi of fuel at the tip of the pintle.

Its has to increase and it also has to be like 20 psi or more higher than the boost you push. Of course you guys are running lower psi around 10 to 12, where I was running 20 plus..so it may not matter as much
