Very quick TB question

Yeah i know, i did search but nothing that gave me an elaborate answer. I did use Rob r.'s site and the other one in the sticky thread but i may be dumb because i didnt get my answer.

So here it is.

I got a polished TB, the tb coolant nipples are off. I dont have the nipples. Can i just plug the 2 rubber hoses shut and still be ok? I understand what the coolant hoses do, thats why its connected to the TB but im not gonna go crazy getting the nipples somewhere cause im putting the uim/tb tomorrow, i need to drive the damn car. lol

So to sum it up, can i plug the 2 rubber hoses up and be ok?

Thanks

Rob

Read this first

http://www.fd3s.net/throttle_body_hose_removal.html

a lot of folks just disconnect these hoses back to the source nipples. But understand the idle issues associated with it first. I have completely removed both of my AWS systems and drilled tapped and welded shut the coolant source and return nipples

Yeah, im gonna safety wire the fast idle cam. I was just worrying about those 2 black hoses. I guess ill plug it? Or how bout if i join them together with a coupling? So that way, 2 hoses with coolant in it is not just dangling there.

Im about to start doing it, can i just join the 2 black hoses with a barb coupling instead of capping it?

If I'm not mistaken, the TB line bypasses the radiator, so you might want to just plug the hoses instead of allowing all that coolant to go back into the engine without getting cooled off. If you're afraid to change things from the stock setup, you could add a restrictor of some sort to keep the flow down.

On MANY FC's I've just capped the nipple on the back of the engine and on the back of the water pump housing - never any ill effects.

NEVER use a cheap auto parts store nipple - they WILL fail. I typically take the stock coolant hose, cut short, stick a bolt in the hose and clamp it shut on both ends. Sounds dumb, but it WORKS, and works for a long time.

Thanks for the replies

All i did for now was used a brass barb coupling to join the 2 loose hoses together. I didnt put everything back together since it was getting dark and it was very windy so tomorrow or thursday im gonna take the barb coupling out and use the bolt thing like dale suggested.

All that stuff is deleted on mine and am idling ok.. Fast idle cam, coolant lines, etc. You wont have any prob. Just cap off any vac. sources not being used. G

Yeah the new uim i got had block off plates to all the sensors and im like, **** wtf is this? im putting all the sensors back on lol

But my only problem now is those vacuum nipples on the uim, do they have specific ports cause i think i might have mixed up the order.
