vent in front bumper in newly acquired FD
Hi Iam a newbie to the forum. I have just acquired a 1995 RZ from JApan which has an interesting difference. Since I ahve just seen the photos at the moment all I can say is that there is an airvent cut into the front bumper and the hood is open and raised at the back with some sort of alloy supports. Is this modification usual. Can anyone help. What will I have to do to get the hood/bonnet back in position.
The car is being delivered next month and I am having sleepless nights already.
Ugh!
The bumper vent may or may not do something.
The hood setup is the result of a misunderstanding of aerodynamics, not to mention it looks stupid. You will want to put it back to original with the original weatherstripping as well. Look here for why: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/want-cooler-engine-bay-without-changing-hood-530715/

The bumper vent is not a normal mod. But the Japs are crazy like that
The hood being propped up in the back was a short-lifed fad in Japan. Died out a few years back. Surprised the hood's still like that. I'd return it to stock like Rynberg said. Nothing major though.
Nice FD btw. Mabrook

Thanks and a little intro
Thanks GuysI may need more opf your help once the car comes in. Just bought the FD after hankering after one for the last 14 years. Read a writeup in Car Magazine in 1991-2 where the car broke the Laguna Seca record for production cars. EVO still says its acheingly beautiful. I concur.
Been using Honda Civic B16As/ Toyota MR2s and a lately a Supra twin turbo. This last one had to go due to a house construction( ongoing) and pressure from the wife. As my MR2 was in the garage for sorely needed denting and painting work ( stupidly misjudged a badly designed speed hump and grounded the front spoiler ( standard) I drove around in the only available car with an AC,my Father in Laws cast off Daewoo Racer ( VAuxhall Belmont/ Opel Astra ) with CNG for two days before going to the nearest importer and bidding for the car. The FD car will join a Honda B16A 92 Civic ( wife drives the kids to school in it, AW11 MR2, Fiat 124 sport coupe 1973, A Mini Cooper 1969 and a Morris Minor 1948 in the garage.
will keep you posted on Project FD
