rust under windshield!!!

So, I've gutted my car inside and out for a paint job. Today I take out the windshield and suprise, rust. I really wasn't expecting this, and theres even a hole rusted thru in the center on top. I'm sure it's the factory glass, so I'd say its a bad seal from the factory. If your glass ever needs replaced, be prepared for the worst! Just wanted to share.

Probably didnt post this in the right place, but I just wanted to get to the fd owners. Here are a few pics.

Dean.

Even W210 (96-02) Mercedes Benz E-Class has corrision problem under some area where they can trap water. I won't surprise our 13 years old car has this problem too.

That's surprising. We don't see many rust reports on the forum. The cars seems to be pretty good in that regard.
On the other hand, I haven't seen many cars stripped down to restoration level for a paint job, so it's hard to say if what happened to yours is unusual, or could a number of cars be susceptible in this area?

Please let us know how things work out. I'd be interested to know how deep the rust goes, and what you end up doing to fix it. In the years to come, I'm sure a number of cars that survive will face similar problems. Rust never sleeps.

Mine has much far rust on the rear windshield than the ones u have.....You might want to check the rears too I'd say...
And I just realize this 3 days ago when I went to the panel beater.
Damn! just when my car's about to go into the oven room.......

I had to replace my hatch because of rust. It had visible signs on it, and when I pulled the glass it had rusted thru were the glass meets the panel. There was glass under my spare tire, so I believe the hatch rust was due to a bad seal during glass replacement.
