vacuum lines... mazda or aftermarket?

Well it's about time to replace my leaky vaccume lines and i had a few questions for everyone. Is there a quality difference between the factory mazda lines and aftermarket? I'm sure there is a price difference and i'd like to avoid the mazda parts department as much as possible What is everyone using and where did you get it? Also, while everything is apart what else should be replaced for precautions sake? I'll be installing an efini Y pipe while im in there as well thanks guys!

Go for the silicon hose kit w/ zip ties. Plus, you even get to choose what color you like.

I wouldn't use OEM hose. I would use a silicone hose kit. There a number of different silicone rubber hose (more accurately, it's called "tubing") kits and they pretty much all work. Take any advice with a grain of salt, because you are going to get extreme opinions (e.g. "The hose techniques kit SUCKS ***!", when in fact it works just fine and you get a piece of candy). Check the scuderiani and Robinette websites for tips on doing the hose job.

While you are in there, you might want to replace your FPD (Fuel Pulsation Dampener) if it hasn't already been done. They have been known to leak after 80kmi or so and have been blamed for several engine fires. Costs about $100.

If your fuel and coolant lines look old or feel kind of hard, then replace them as well. Can someone tell me how much these cost?

Replace any paper gaskets you find. If the rubber coating on your metal ones is flaking off badly, then replace them. If they are only flaking a little, then use some non-hardening gasket sealer.

Do a search! I have these links saved (READ THEM FULLY!):

Also, check out all the links posted within those links. Remember, the more you know, the less you will f*** up.

Good Luck.

I would recommend silicon as well. It lasts longer than rubber hose, and looks better (you get to choose the color).

The best price I've found an a silicon kit is here http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=209&1=343&3=633
