Vacuum Line Check Valve

Hi - I am changing my downpipe, so naturally I found a broken check valve...

I am sourcing replacements, and am now confused. Atkins Rotary website lists several check valves; https://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/?...=all&brandId=0

The one on my car that was broken looks to be green and black, or as Atkins calls it, "87-92 Delay Check Valve". My car is a 1994. This is the check valve between the Y-Pipe and the vacuum chamber. Is the broken geen/black check valve installed on my car the correct valve? I have found evidence that several of the hoses at my y-pipe / turbo area have been tinkered with, since the clamps are not on the original seats, and some are newer/cleaner than others. Should I replace it with a standard check valve? I wonder how they get these things to "delay"; perhaps there is a spring that only opens at a certain differential pressure? I checked the manual and this thing is identified as just a "check valve"

Thanks
Jarod

Dale Clark sells (or used to as late as last year when I bought mine from him) Viton check valves that are good replacements and cheaper if you want to go that route.

I PM'd you on it.

The stock check valves are just one way check valves. The original check valves were green/black and green/white, I think the green/black had a filter in there. I believe Mazda was trying to keep the check valve from jamming up since they used a crappy design. They don't sell the green/black ones any more and only have the white/green which has superceded the old style.

They are crazy expensive and quite crappy, poor design and aren't made to take the heat and oil. Mazda used the EXACT same check valves since the 1st gen RX-7.

The ones I have use a floating Viton diaphragm and a high temp plastic casing. I've sold probably 2-3 THOUSAND of them over 15 years and have seen about 2 or 3 of them fail or have a problem. They will even work when filled with oil.
