vacuum leak? boosts a solid 8 when boost controller off

when i shut my boost controller off, i get a solid 8 boost. Both my autometer gauge and my profec b show 8psi. Also, my car sometimes idles at 17-18in vacuum, and other times (especially after a hard run) idles at 14. Anyone know why this would be, or where would be the best place to search for a vacuum leak, i already pulled my UIM yesterday to check for loose hoses, or broken check valves, but didn't find anything.
Thanks

edit...also, i get great boost, boost it to 13 sometimes, and runs great then too, its just the idle and the 8psi i get when the controller is off thats bothering me

Sounds normal to me.

When your boost controller is off, you are running at the wastegate actuator spring pressure (happens to be around 7-8 psi)

After a hard run, your fans are probably on, creating a significant enough load to bring your vacuum readings down.
