This is the only thing you should consider.
Period.
Well worth the money. You will NEVER have to mess with a vacuum hose again.

def go with a viton kit opposed to a silicon kit, will last much longer but is obviously more expensive, the stock hoses are viton and mine have lasted it's 14 years of abuse

Stock hoses are RUBBER and they become extremely brittle even on fairly low millage cars because of the excessive underhood heat these cars generate. Silicone is fine. I like the hose techniques kits. The hoses is good quality, doesn't collapse easily if you bend it, comes in many colors, and they give you alot extra in case you need to replace hoses in the future. If you want to spend the extra money then go with viton.

I have the viton and while it's surely the most temp and solvent resistant material, I think good silicone is easier to work with. Hose Techniques, Baker Precision, and High Temp Silicone are among the very best quality silicone. There is such a thing as cheap silicone and avoid it.

You need to think long term. I mean if you think you may go single or even non seq. then don't waste your money on viton. I have the viton kit. I love it, but I am thinking single in less then a year from now. I could have put the money else where.

viton all the way. silicon will harden and crack when exposed to heat and oil.

Silicon is going to out last your car so the Hose tech kits are fine.

Just buy the hose techniques kit from the rx-7 store or other vendors on here. You won't be dissapointed. I recommend them to all my customers and I don't even upcharge parts.

Silicon will not harden. It will get weak when exposed to oil so careful with silicon PCV and OMP vaccuum lines. Without oil contact it will last forever.

I stand corrected. But as long as the silicon is not subjected to oil then it should be just fine?

Perhaps I am just trying to justify my money spent on viton.

Overkill is somewhere in my list of middle names.

You need mostly 4mm (or 3.5mm) and some 6mm.

okay, I can get this stuff at the local auto parts store in silicon and viton. here is the measurement chart I found:

1/8" = 3.2mm
9/64" = 3.6mm
5/32" = 4.0mm
15/64" = 6.0mm

I will go with either the 9/64 or the 5/32 for the 4.0 or 3.5mm and with the 15/64 for the 6mm. Thanks for the tips!

There should be no oil flowing through the vacuum hoses in the solnoid rack. You might get a little in the pcv valve, but as long as the hoses arent sitting in oil they will stand up for years. The hose techniques kit comes with all the sizes you need and zip ties, as well as a tool to cut the hose.

Most of the silicone I've seen at the autoparts store sucks. It is still like vinyl, and very thin walled so it collapses internally when bent.

I got my silicone hose from xs-engineering. It is very high quality thick wall and less than a buck a foot for most sizes.

But I really want Viton

I've got all the 3.5mm Viton hose I need; just need about 8ft of 6mm. http://www.hightempsilicone.com/ shows only 1ft (!) in stock and don't answer their phone, return calls or respond to email. Anyone have a line on other sources?

The HTS website says:

WE WILL NOT BE SHIPPING
MAY 28th - June 1st
All orders will ship out on June 4th

so that might explain the lack of communication. I think he's a one-man show, and I'm venturing to guess he deserves a vacation once in a while. His products and business has been very good, when he's in the store. If there isn't enough 6mm in stock, he'll at least be honest about when it will be available. Personally, I'd buy a few feet of 6mm black silicone and use that instead.

For posterity sake:

As a reference, these are the lengths offered back in the kit for FD sequential with emissions.

If you have deleted emissions, you'll have lots left over.....especially of the 3.5 size.

Measurements are inside diameter (I.D.), and all had walls of at least 3mm (1/8"):

40' of 3.5 mm
15' of 4.0 mm
16' of 6.0 mm
4' of 8.0 mm

HoseTechniques recommendation:
*Not all kits use all of these sizes / extra hose can be ordered separately:

Intake Manifold (small fittings) - 03.5mm
Boost Controllers (Greddy, HKS & other) - 03.5mm, 04.mm or 06.0mm
Windshield Washer Bottle - 04.0mm
Intake Manifold (small fittings) - 06.0mm
Radiator Overflow Hose - 06.0mm or 08.0mm
Hood Hold Up Rod - 06.0mm or 08.0mm
Intake Pipe (large fittings) - 08.0mm (includes aftermarket intakes & some radiator overflow)
Misc. covers of hard lines, etc. - 10.0mm (refer to Slit ‘n Groom(TM) Technique in instructions)

Also for posterity sake: the lengths specified above are typical for FD "kits". I installed a Viton kit on my car and by being conscious about wasting the material, managed to use just less than half of the material listed above. I sold that half kit to another who managed similarly. My car has all emissions too. So if you're buying ala carte, feel free to cut down on those quantities if you work carefully and don't need lots of spare material afterward.
