vac or airpump ISSUE?

i don't know whether this is a noob question but since i did 2 mod at once... i need some help from people who know whats going on w/ my car

so i did the replacing vac job as well as the removal of airpump job (i got the pulley set).

at first the idle was at about 1200rpm. and then it dropped to about 800, hunting.

i thought of warming it up.. so took it out for a spin... the car would stutter around 2000rpm (VERY slow power increase after stuttering) @ 2nd gear (didn't even shift to third). so i turned around and head straight for my garage... as i was pulling in... i let it idle and the car was hunting harder and harder (it got to the point where it chock on me unless i add gas).

i read people have had some issues with the removal of airpump.. and i DO have the stock exhaust. would that be the problem or do i have a leaky hose? i plugged all the openings already.

thanks!

so i just put the airpump back on to see try to diagnose.... well this is what i found.

when i put the airpump on, it makes a squech noise. it's not the belt that's making the noise.. instead its from the engine. i tried to dc the hose that connects the pump to the engine.. and there is no more noise.. but instead i get rough idle.

so what's the problem?!?! i am sooo confused. i am guess it's a vac hose problem?

i get about 14 vac at idle. with and without the airpump. didn't test drive cause of the problem but basically no boost when i drove it earlier.

there are so many idle threads floating around the forum. I've posted in at least half a dozen in the last couple months. So a search might be your quickest result in your quest for finding the issue.

Check your map sensor, make sure its hooked up. Check TPS voltages, Adjust your air bleed screw half a turn out, adjust secondary butterflies so the screw is set to touch just as they completely close. Use the primary butterfly adjustment screw to set your idle.

Spray carb cleaner around the engine bay to check for vacuum leaks.

The air pump removal shouldnt cause a major engine behavior change.
Are you running the stock catalytic converter? If so you are probably better off running an air pump.

These should give you a starting point of fixing it
