V-Mount and FEED Vented Hood?

Would the FEED Vented hood be adeqaute for a V-mount, or are the vents to far back on the hood?

I dont think it really matters where the vents are, as long as you have them.

BTW, if you have the FEED hood, I envy you.

I was thinking the same thing, because really if you think about it, a V-mount is not much different than the SMIC (other than rad loaction). Plus I feel with the FEED hood you can get alot more hot air vented out of the engine bay since it is located furthur back, where the heat maker his . Although yes, I know these are not air cooled engines, but it still helps.

Not yet, I will soon Just gotta wait til my friend returns from Vaction and has time to settle down to order the stuff from FEED for me, just gotta find the best shipping method.

To be honest, I can't imagine that hood will do anything for you. If anything, it may actually suck air into the engine bay like cowl induction. It does look neat, but it just doesn't seem functional. If I were to buy a hood, it would be the Knightsports replica.

pianoprodigy, how do you think it is not functional?

Seriously, I thought the same thing when I saw it at FEED's shop, then when I got closer and looked at it I realized it was actually cut to allow air to ecsape. My friend an I were trying to talk to them about the cars, well mostly using hands gustures and basic words like, "power" "temperature" and so on. They have it on both of there Spirit cars (one twin setup and one with there single turbo kit). I cannot remember what they said about temperature drop with the hood.

But the idea of the hood (with the lips on the vents) is it will create a low pressure behind both of the vents to suck the air out.

The rx7 mechanic by me made the comment that my vmount was blocking pretty much all of the air that could circulate by the engine. He thought the engine would not dissipate as much heat but it wasn't anything to be worried about. For that reason, it sounds as if the Feed hood has the vents in a good location. When running on the highway, the ic gets plenty of cooling without vents in the hood anyway. That thing is cool to the touch.

The single turbo feed car is one of the most versatile FDs ever - can circuit and drag (the 100km/h - 200 times are staggering) - I'd say they must be doing something right with the design.

if the vent is further to the front like the mazdaspeed / KS that should be more functional

sub9lulu, I understand what you are saying, but if you look at in this light, from what I said earlier. The stock hood with a SMIC has no where to vent, so basically you could use a v-mount with a non vented hood (as long as there is space between the IC and hood to pass air.

I am not trying to defend the FEED hood, thats it would be the best or even good for a v-mount, I am really just venting thoughts in my head.

Personnaly, i think the best hood for a V-mount would be the Pan Speed.

I agree with RotorFrank, but there are also others that could fit the bill on v-mounts.

I am not saying that I am going to do wither, I was just thinking, cause I like how it retains much of the stock look with the FEED hood..

I have been doing alot of research on the V-mounts and I notice alot of people have NOT be running vented hoods. At first I thought this was a must, but then when I saw some of the numbers people were posting the vents did not make that much of a difference. Although I did not seeing anyone tracking the car and a comparsion.

the biggest advantage to a vented hood is at idle at a stop light i think.

Not the ugliest, not the nicest IMO. The best looking hood on an FD is the stocker, but of course it doesn't have anywhere for the hot air to escape.

Well the reason why I like it is because it vents and its the closet to stock I saw it first hand at FEEDs shop and I had to do a double take to actually realzie it.
