Urgent info required - manufacturers of 929 MC

Hi guys,

I need some relatively quick info (trying to decide whether to jump on a group buy or not over here in the UK) on the Mazda 929 master cylinder front.

The two possible suppliers are Dorman and Kelsey-Hayes...I have heard that the former used to be known for their quality but that they were taken over and now source their parts from around the world, mainly at the cheapest cost with mixed results..not heard anything about the latter.

Given the nature of the part and that its a mechanical piece I don't really want to be taking any risks that these things could fail.

Can anyone provide any insight into whether they are any good, and whether I should just go for it? Or are there better manufacturers/alternatives. Money is important but I'd rather get a little more together and go for something that will be OEM quality or better.

Oh and Mazda UK are useless at sourcing anything in this space, not sure if its the same across the pond.

Thanks!

Bally

Really hard to say. I do know for 2nd gen RX-7's I found a place locally that sourced Tokico-made and boxed master cylinders. They made the MC's for the 2nd gens, that was just getting it straight from the source.

If you'd like to see what the Mazda part runs, email Ray at Malloy Mazda - hmkparts@aol.com He can get you a price quote that's fair and the right part. Make sure to let him know you need shipping to the UK.

I just picked up a new one made from Centric - the parent company of StopTech and PowerSlot for $170.

http://www.centricparts.com/

Don't know if they do anything internationally though.

Yeah I can get hold of either a Centric or Wagner manufactured version now...

Probably going to go for the Centric if no-one has anything to say against that decision?

Thanks for the replies guys!

Even though my car isn't driving, the Centric unit I got seems to be very good quality. I still need to replace a leaky line by the little bit I've been bleeding with it the pedal feels great. It came with reservoir already on it, just popped the sensor out and it looks great. If you want me to take pictures of it or whatever info you can think of that I might be able to help with, just let me know.

Thanks mate for the offer, and very useful responses from everyone!

I've just gone for the Centric unit myself, will hopefully have it in the not too distant future. My car won't be running til late Summer so if and when I shall report back!
