Unnecessary Noise ticket o_O Need silencer

Today I was driving down and got pulled over for what I thought was speeding (wasn't paying attention to odometer) and the lady cop gave me a ticket for "Unnecessary noise" for $110 CAD which comes with some points. I'm going to try to take it to court and buy a silencer. I was thinking this one http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_exh...=217&pageNum=1 . Would this work for my car? http://thewirdsdomain.com/rx7/9.jpg Thanks.

Silencer

I have the original Apex silencer (fixed outlet size) and put it on at the dyno it cost me 40 hp! Someone recently posted dyno data for this "active" silencer and it seemed to cost a few hp at low rpm and few, if any, at higher rpms. Appears to have high flow at high hp.

My exhaust is N1 and it fits tight (you have to have a puller to get it out, we tried "blasting" it our with exhause alone but it wouldn't come. Steve Kan says he can usually blast them out though.

So the silencer will fit on my exhaust? It's a 3 incher in the pic. I'm not really sure what my exhaust is except for the size.

thewird,

Your exhaust doesn't look like an Apexi exhaust at least to me (looks like an HKS or Greddy). What you'll need to do is to measure your inner diameter of your exhaust tip and then check the size of the Apexi products to see if something will fit. If not, then you'll need to find a replacement catback which is a little quieter.

Oh, I didn't realize it had to be an apexi exhaust to use the silencer. I took some pictures if anyone can identify it and maybe recommend something. Thanks.

I measured the exhaust and its 4.5 inches or 11.3 cm

just the govt collecting money. Get used to it. they do it all day everyday. if they can find a way to take money from you, they will. Ive even had them make up a false ticket before.

Im in the process of fighting a "loud exhaust" ticket. Did they use a dB meter on your car to determine how loud it is?

No, the lady cop didn't use the DB meter. Can I use that in the case if she shows?

the guy didnt use one on mine. Im going to court to ask if the cop had his ears calibrated that day to make sure he knew exactly that my car at an IDLE was louder than 95dB. (thats the law here in fl)...on top of that, my friend got pulled over by the same cop at the same time and didnt give him a ticket and gave me one. I say **** the police, all they do is harass me . You guys might have a different opinion. All they are, are little henchmen for the govt to steal from you leagally.

i would'nt call it stealing from you legally, my uncle is a cop and his seargeant or whatever is always discouraging profileing and all that crap. of course this could be an isolated thing to this department. and on another note if its your word against the cops, who do you think will win?

it may be my word against his. but at the same time he has no proof to back his word up. i would be glad to meet someone that can tell me a specific dB level with out having a metering device.

Around here, it must be a prerequesite *sp* to be a dick head and be willing to harass people for no reason. anytime a cop see's any car with a wing or an exhaust they follow and tail for ever, riding your *** so close that is a chipmunk ran out infront of you and you tried to slow down just a littl bit they would run into you. Ive lived here for about a year. I have never been pulled over and harrased so much since i started driving.

Couldnt agree with you more, its like that in nieghboring townships around here... all cops are different though. Same thing happened to me with my FC but whatever I can deal with it but if it happened often I would start to do something about it

Running silencers is silly. You have less performance than a stock exhaust with them. Just buy an exhaust that is quiet to begin with, ie, Racing Beat.
