unidentified oil leak

Aiight, the oil pan gasket is brand new, just put on, my oil leak is coming from somewhere on the drivers side, from above the oil pan, according to the oil trails I can see. Any ideas of what I could have loose? It doesn't leak when the engine is off, only when engine is running. Any ideas? Anything I can look over? Thanks.

Check the oil filter pedastal; there are two o-rings known to leak. Also check the oil pressure sender and the hard line to the coolers just under the filter.

Thanks...

Now with those O-rings, do I hae to replace them, or can they be replaced with gasket maker? Also, I am gonna check the oil metering lines, the two hard lines, and the oil filler neck, which I read on here doesn't have such a great seal. Thanks for the info, I'll let you know how it pans out.

I would just replace the gaskets on the oil pedistal, not jack with silicone. I use it often, but they are just two little o-rings. Should be pretty cheap.

The o-rings are less than a buck at the parts store. You can buy one of those "Help" packs of rings. Take the old ring along with you for size comparison.

I put a little bit of RTV silicone around the o-rings.

Try to clean up the engine the best you can and then look for leaks/drips while it runs. Trace the trail of oil towards the top of the motor and you should be able to locate the leak.

Yea, I am gonna get on it tonight, and see if I can find exactly where its coming from. I think it may be the neck, or either the filler neck, hopefully I can find it. I just got the motor back in after replacing the oil pan gasket, and the rear turbo gasket, so I am really ready to drive the **** out of it.

aiight, I cranked it up and watched for oil trails. It appeared to be coming from the top of the front plate. It was leaving a trail down the edge of the front rotor housing to the oil filler neck, coming down there, and two small streams down the rotor housing itself. I pulled the UIM, and from what I could see, looked as if the oil was coming from the turbo oil feed banjo fitting. The crush washers were on there, and it was tightened down pretty well. You could see where the oil had begun to leak out of it. I pulled the banjo bolt, and noticed that the washers were really oilly, and dirty. Now, if those are installed and working properly, they shouldn't be filthy, dirty maybe but not covered in oil, correct? If the banjo is working correctly, oil should never even touch them, should it? Anyways, going to the AutoZone tomorrow, to see if I can replace them, and give that a shot, hopefully its the problem. Its going on 10 months, and I think I have a month of driving time, I ready to get it on the road. Hopefully it will work. Anything else I can check while I have it down? I plan to put a touch of gasket maker on the filler neck to secure that joint, I could see where oil had started gathering there, so no need to not address that now. anyone know the exact size or part number of the crush washers for the turbo oil feed banjo bolt that is on the drivers side top of the front cover? Anyways, I am having troubles finding one at the local stores, so I might have to order them from Malloy. Thanks

Well, as soon as I took it off the stands, and drove it around for about 20 minutes, I stopped to wash the windows (been in shop for 2 months) and checked the oil. A little low, but not more than usual. I stayed there for about 20 minutes, and it showed no signs of a leak. I thanks for all the ideas guys. If it don't leak overnight, I will be one happy man.
