underneath brace on 99 fd got smashed driving over a big rock!

hey guys i have a 99 fd and was driving along one night came round a corner and drove straight over a rock about the size of a soccer ball! it dented up sump exhaust pipe and smashed the brace at the back just before the diff. what is that brace for? strength or a drive shaft safety or? do i need it?

Nah, Mazda slaps extra parts on the car that aren't really needed. Once I drove over a rhinoceros and it took out my rear subframe, car's been brilliant ever since

Pics of the damage.

Take it to an alignment shop. Have them put it up, make sure your alignment and frame is still good, and have them inspect for all damage. Replace anything damaged with good used parts and it won't cost very much.

hey guys thanks for the replies, i cant send pic of the damage as the brace has been taken off and the car is 3hours drive away. I will look into getting one from a wreckers. just wasnt sure if i needed it or if it was an important part to hold the car together haha
