Question Under hood insulation

Should I remove the under hood insulatio? Why is it there in the first place?

It is most likely for sound insulation.

Many cars have this. I believe it is to keep the hood paint cooler (keep it from deteriorating).

Leave it....it doesn't weigh anything, and it most definitely keeps the hood temps down....I have heard of paint blistering on non-insulated hoods.
