It's probably a faulty sender that is misreading the oil level as low. It could be a poor connection to the sender. Where is it? I donno, wish I could help more. Maybe you wanna read up on the manual or parts diagram on Mazdaperformance.com

I doubt if it's the oil pump since the warning light just indicates low oil level, it doesn't indicate low oil pressure.

yeah, I'm guessing its a bad connection or something....I drove it again, and the light would come on under low RPMs...like idling or coasting, but when I accelerate, the light turns off...then a couple hours later, the light didn't come back on...hmmmm....I"ll gonna take it for another test drive this morning..I wonder of the sensor was just dirty or something...How do you know when your oil pump goes bad?

Get a new sender.

Get a new sender and try that first (~$35.00) From Mazda.

I had one replaced two yeas ago, but it is bad again.
