Two Water Level Sensor Connectors in Harness

I’m installing a Wiring Specialties engine harness. First let me say it’s really first rate, I highly recommend it. Beats dealing with a dirty dried out harness with fossilized plastic connectors. Any way, it has two Water Level Sensor Connectors. One is where you’d expect it, near the water pump filler neck. The other is on the left side, is longer, in the same bundle as the crank sensor connectors. What I’m I missing. WS says it’s supposed to be that way.

If you have a multimeter, try checking continuity between those two connectors. The coolant level sensor eventually goes to the instrument cluster, not the ECU. I think the connector near the crank sensors is where the coolant level signal transitions from that section of the harness to the next section of the harness. On page Z-42 of the factory wiring diagram, the connector at the sensor is labeled C1-07 and the connector between the Emissions (EM) harness and Engine (E) harness is labeled C1-06. The signal makes a few other transitions, from the Engine (E) harness to the Front (F) harness and then to the Instrument Panel (I) harness.

The level sensor connects that wire to ground when there is water present. If you leave the connector disconnected, the low coolant light will turn on and a piezo speaker inside one of the body CPU modules near the clutch pedal will make a constant high-pitch beep/whistle sound.

I also used their wiring harness earlier this year. I think the missing connection is behind the power steering pump. I'll take a look when I get home this afternoon.

The wls wire is just a long jumper wire. What you're seeing is 2 ends of the same wire in the harness. One end goes to the sensor on the water neck and the other end connects to the plug in the charge harness. It's a single pin connector similar to the ac connector. It will be easy to find since it's the only other 1 pin connector in that area.

Thanks guys! It is a jumper from one harness to another. Thank you.
