Two part problem, interior trim and parking lights :(

Hey all-
So, I decided today to try and undertake the wiring of my Defi control unit so I can finally have my boost gauge. Well all was going fine until I turned on my parking lights and found that both they and my interior illumination won't come on (dash lights only, my dome light works). So, I dunno if I shorted something out and blew a fuse or what. Where are the fuses for this? It'd be ok if I just burned up a fuse, but the block under the dash on the drivers side doesn't have any for lights, and neither do the ones under the hood I looked at.

Anyone have a Defi boost gauge/control unit? If so, where did you wire the power, etc. from? I'm considering taking the dash apart to get to the wires from the radio, etc. since I know they contain all of the wires I'll need (12V constant, 12V on ignition, 12V on illumination and ground), but if there's an easier way I'd just as soon do that.

Second part...How do you take off the trim surrounding the stereo? There aren't any visible screws, and while I can pull the ***** off of the A/C controls, that doesn't get me anywhere.

This isn't a huge emergency as I have another car I can drive, but my mechanic doesn't have any time to work on this until next week and I'd really prefer to get this fixed myself so I don't have to pay anyone else to do it.

All help is appreciated...

Check your illumination wires. It is a wire that is red with a black strip. I had a break in my wire and it did the same thing, only my headlights would come on. If not check the fuse for the Tail lights in the interior fuse box, it's all one circuit.

If you pull out the gauge cluster you can find all your wires in there. I dont have the Defi control unit but it sounds similar to the S2000 start button which I installed on my car. Pulling out the gauge cluster isnt the funnest, but it will work. You should check the workshop manual for all the wiring diagrams. If you dont have them, download them here:

You best bet WOULD be the wiring harness to the radio, since it is also already fused up.

To remove the center panel, you first need to remove the shifter panel. Once you tak that panel off, you will see the 2 screws holding the lower portion of the center panel down. There is a 3rd screw, and it is located on the top left. It is behind the gauge cluster, and so it must be raised an inch or so to get to it.

I recommened first removing the plastic cover around the steering column so you dont scratch the gauge cluster when you move it around. Also, to move the gauge cluster around, you are going to have to remove the screws on the lower section of it.
