Twin pass radiator

Does anyone have a dual pass radiatot? How benefical would a twin pass radiator be compared the the normal single pass? Or anyone know were I could find more info? I am really not sure if it restricts flow, I am sure it "should" cool twice as much.........

I doubt it's going to do twice as much - the coolant just runs twice as far through the rad, and the second half it cools less quickly since it's not as hot. Heat exchanger design (radiator) depends greatly on a number of other variables that you won't get information on (tube size, total tubing length, fin size, fin material, fin construction, etc)

The only way to know anything real about a radiator is to install it, figure out what temperature it keeps the coolant at, install the other, and see if there is a difference.

I dunno, I still run the stock rad with a miata thermoswitch, and my coolant temps stay around 180 year-round.

I'm still running a stock radiator in my car with two extra fans underneath and the two stock fans running all the time. My temps usually hang around 84-90C depending on the weather. The shop where I get my work done has completed a dual-pass radiator setup just recently. I will be getting it installed along with *probably* a vented hood when the weather begins to heat up again.

There has been some previous threads regarding dual pass radiators and I thought about making my own setup (cheaper than a koyo) but got tired of having to fab everything.

What were you estimates on making one? And why were you considering it?
