Turning in bathtub noise

I think one of my coolant seals is going or gone. It billowed alot of white smoke this morning, in the last two days has become difficult to start but I haven't really smelled any coolant. But the issue i'm wondering about is. Tonight after the car hasd been sitting for a couple hours in the cold. started making this really bizarre "someone turning around in a bathtub really fast with water" noise coming off the right side of the car as far as I could tell. It was pretty much only obvious when I pressed the gas down from a stop. And it got less and less the further I drove it home. Once I got home I couldn't hear it anymore and it totally stopped. As far as I can tell the engine and the turbos were running fine. It felt a tad bit sluggish but that might have just been mental. Anyone have any idea's what would cause such a noise? It sounds like someone turning in a pool or bathtub like there is fluid pooling somewhere and when I hit the gas it's causing it to push out of the way.

The only modifications the car has is a downpipe. The car just recently had the plugs replaced and a new battery.

hmm. Well, I can tell u that I am having probs. with air getting in my cooling system right now, (most likely leaky AST), and I hear that sound that u are describing. My problem is the heater core. Im not sure what urs sounds like exactly, but you can only hear the sound that mine makes from inside the car, hence my heater core. Air is getting trapped in it, and when the motor runs and gets hot, it bubbles air through it and it sounds very similiar to what u are describing. Only my sound doesnt really go away.

Eric,

What's the coolant level, in the cap and also the overflow bottle? If it's bad enough, it can start pressuring the coolant and send it to the overflow bottle, filling it up and having to pour some at the cap.

Hopefully not.

Tim

Hey thanks for the help guys I think i might have figured it out. First thing I should have checked. The AC drainage hose (i believe that's what it is) that's under the dash on the passanger side way in the back had come off. I think maybe me reving the engine to see what was causing that sound was causing the flaucation in the accessories causeing water to bubble out of that tube or further down in that system maybe and that was what was causing the noise. (talk about a run on sentence! lol) And it would figure that it would be only when I first started as after awhile all the water in there proably ended up on my floor mat. =) I put a metal clamp down on it and put the hose back on so hopefully that will be the end of that. =)

Mine is coming from the heater core area also. That drain hose is for the a/c evaporator. There shouldn't be anything coming out unless your a/c is on
