Turbos/intercooler bad?

I dropped my car of today at the dealership, hopefully my a/m warranty will finally pay off.

My intercooler is leaking out an oil substance out of the top plastic piece before the metal fins. Is oil coming from my turbos and through the stock intercooler?

What could the problem be?

Oil is going all over the black plastic on top of the intercooler.

thanks guys

If you are getting a ton of oil in your intake tubing, then your turbos are leaking. A light film of oil is normal.

BTW, never take your car to a Mazda dealer for diagnosis or repairs. If you have an aftermarket warranty, by law you can get the car worked on by any certified mechanic. Take your poor car to someone who knows what they are doing.

IF turbos are leaking, will they need to be replaced? do you think that the dealership could get me 99 spec turbos for the same price that the warranty pays for on stock american twins?

Yes, you probably could get the 99-spec (make sure you get the abraidable seal version) turbos through your warranty.

Now, LISTEN. Run, don't walk from that Mazda dealer! Go to a rotary specialist in your area. If you have an aftermarket warranty, any certified mechanic can work on the car, it doesn't have to me a Mazda dealer.

If the turbos are leaking oil, then you will have to replace them. DO NOT try and rebuild them. Rebuilds will fail and they will fail quickly. I went through 2 sets in less than 3 months. It's not worth your time and definitely not worth your money.

There are two types of '99 spec turbos: the RB model and the RS/RZ model. Performance-wise, they're basically the same. The RZ turbos have the abraidable seals and the extra reinforcement bolts on the compressor housings. The exhaust port on the RZ turbos looks a little bigger, but it's not like I've seen a BUNCH of HT-12's to make the comparison to.

Rynberg is right to be wary of the Mazda dealerships. Not very many of them have certified RX-7 technicians (yes, there is a Mazda RX-7 certification program) ... and then, not very many have techs experienced at 3rd gen troubleshooting. I would be absolutely sure that I was confident with the Mazda tech working on my car before I let him touch it.
