Turbo swap?
Turbo swap?
Hi guys and gals, I had my turbos go out on my 94 RX-7 and bought a used one from a fellow FD owner. He told me that his shop could so the swap. I got the bill and the shop stated that it took 18 hours to pull the old stock turbos out and put the newer stock turbos in. I feel like that is way to much time and that I got taken to the cleaners? Am I right or is that really a pain in the *** job to do? Please let me know so I can keep other people away from this shop. Thanks

Although a turbo r&r is not easy, that seems a bit excessive. I wouldnt have recommended installing used turbos, way too much work for something that will not last a long time. Sounds like that shop is indeed taking you to the cleaners. Hell, 18 hours at let's say $75 an hour is $1350, I charge that much in labor for an entire engine r&r and complete rebuild!
Ya it seems my buddy here known as Farhan took me to the cleaners. He then tried to play dumb like he didnt know and he is doing a single turbo conversion. So all be warned Farhans Amoco shop on Dempster and Greenwood in Niles likes to screw people. Well hopefully there is kharma for people like him.
