Turbo Problems---Need opinions
I'm currently rebuilding my turbos and I removed the cheap plastic elbow in front of the front turbo and got a nasty surprise. The best I can figure , one of the plastic nipples had broken off and a piece of plastic fell into the turbos while it was running. This left some small chips in 2 of the turbo blades. Besides that and the fact it's leaking oil badly, the turbo appears to be OK. There is some play in the turbo but there are no marks where the blades have hit the side of the chamber.
My question is as follows: Will that turbo still run OK with a small chip in one of the blades? I know turbos do need to be balanced but I don't know what the specs are for these turbos. I'm concered the turbo may have a short life expectancy.
Also, what's the part name for the non-Mazda replacement for this elbow? The store has some Greddy elbows listed but they don't give a picture of what it is.
Thanks.

The Greddy elbow is the piece right before the throttle body. I think the piece u are talking about is the turbo x-over pipe. That part is replaced when u replace the stock y-pipe with the efini y-pipe. It comes with 2 pieces, the y-pipe and x-over pipe, don't know if they could be sold seperately, but u can ask around.
As for the turbos, if u have the cash to spare, replace them. Upgrade them to the bb type or high flow if u could. Running with damaged turbo is a time bomb waiting to go off. Good luck.
