Turbo Problems

As some may know i just got my car back from gotham racing and i was breaking in my new motor. well now that i hit 1000 miles i can boost alittle, but the car doesnt boost till 4500 is there a problem here or is this how they set up a break in for most cars???

You left out some important details, like what kind of turbo(s) are you running?

Single, or non-sequential maybe? Either one of those would probably not build much boost below 4500 RPM.

When you say "doesn't boost till 4500", do you mean 0psi or 10psi at 4500? My stock sequential setup doesn't hit 10psi till 4500, but it is boosting above 0 by 3000.

Be sure to test in 3rd or 4th gear and start from a reasonable rpm such as 2500. If you start to high, you may not give the primary a chance to spoolup. Also be sure you are giving it wide open throttle. When I was breaking my engine in, a few times I had low boost only to find I wasn't giving WOT. Just a little too tentative with a new engine

well i doesnt jump up in boost like the second turbo does. it creeps slowly to .5 bar as i floor it and then as i hit 4500rpms and it drops to .3 then blasts to 1.3 bar of boost very very fast. and away i go like a rocket!!! is there a vacum line disconected that would cause this or tuning cause i have a apexi pfc. Or are the turbo bad (would my next question) but then again they havent smoked which would be a sign.

If your running a stock ECU and boosting to 1.3 bar then your motor will truly be "broken in" before you know it .5 bar is 7 psi and stock wastegate spring pressure, that is the minimum psi you need for the secondary to come on but your way too high after 4500, better get some way to control your boost.

If you are only getting .5bar(7psi) before 4500, then it sounds like your pre-control door is not being controlled. Could be a solenoid, hose or pill.
