turbo to LIM and air pump clearance issue
turbo to LIM and air pump clearance issue
Does anyone know if anyone makes a spacer for the turbo manifold to motor? I've almost completed my project after 7 years and now that everything is coming together, the damn airpump won't fit in place.
Here is the situation:
Since I'm required to get emissions I had Sean from Aspec create me a t-kit with short runners to incorporate the airpump. I've successfully saw off the bracket off the airpump and can install it with the custom bracket. Now when I mount the airpump, I can't spin the turbo housing inlet enough to have the airpump pipe in the back clear the inlet. When I try to loosen the bolt to the housing and spin it to try to point to the fender wall more, one of the bolt on the turbo rests on the LIM and with the manifold has a gap 1/8" to the motor, thus not allowing me to tighten down the nuts to the studs. Sean had sent me a milled LIM to get some clearance but not enough.
I am not sure if I should try to bend the pipe on the airpump more or mill more on the LIM [not sure if there is enough material to do this] or at best find a spacer flange to bump the t-manifold out more. Has anyone run into an issue with the short runner A-spec kit?
any suggestions? Gonna try to post some pics up tonight

Here are some pics

Top view where the turbo is banged up against the LIM

air pump pipe nearly hitting the turbo inlet

Very close, airpump is not sitting on turbo, but its tight

Gap between manifold and motor

I've been playing with different things on the setup and right now the turbo is touching the LIM, do any of you know if this is ok? Heat issues? vibration issues?
