if you were worried about staying legal, you might not have wanted to buy an FD.

even if you found one...you want want so many other non-carb legal go-fast goodies to go with it/take advantage of it..... it would not matter. anyways

I dont think it is...in order for a kit to be legal it would have to come with its own ECU. The CARB legal kits that Greddy sells (for example) have blue or black boxes which go along with their kits. These boxes get wired in along with your stock ECU.

Of course all that is just a wild guess, but I've done a lot of research on CARB legal turbos (for Hondas) and that is what I know.

i remember hearing that rx6 kit comes with a line for the airpump. thought that would at least pass the sniffer test.

There are no CARB legal turbo kits for the 3rd gen, period. Some kits let you keep the airpump, but they still aren't CARB legal. There aren't even any CARB legal cold air intakes (only hot air). There are 2 CARB legal intercoolers (Greddy SMIC and Greddy type-s FMIC). For a list see this link:

But it wont pass the visual test...a CARB E.O. number is part of the visual test and if your kit doesn't have one, then it would be ilegal.

ludeowne: who doesn't give a crap about CARB and will be installing a single turbo kit in the future.

I'm pretty sure the HKS kits allow for air pump retention, however, I'm not too sure on your local CARB compliance issues.

Godd luck!

HKS has a CARB legal IC also....but that's about it...no turbo kits...as stated many times...just because you can retain the smog pump does not make it carb legal...damn **** california

The funny thing about CA is the just because it has a carb number doesnt mean that it will pass the visiual inspection, a lot of shops will not do it because its been modified and they dont want to take the risk. the carb number are useful if you have to go to a test only center, they have a whole book of freaking carb eo numbers.
