Turbo cracks-going back to seq

So I have been slowly collecting stuff to go back to Sequential turbos, it was already non Seq when I got the car.

I took the Turbos off Sunday, wasn't as hard as it seemed from some of the posts, only took a few hours.

Anyway I took some pictures and thought I would share them. You will notice that the turbos that came off the car probably wouldn't have worked as seq anyway due to the big *** crack between the waste-gate and the exhaust port. You can see light through it.

All the pix for going back to Seq can be seen here.

I am hoping to get this cleaned up and running, with the low mileage turbos by the end of Feb.

Later gator

That's the standard place they crack, but that manfold looks to be toast. Garfinkle may be able to work his welding magic if you have the funds.

There is a Group Buy going on for BNRs right now, I would go that route

Decent used turbos are usually pretty cheap with smaller cracks, those are large. That said it'll run a long time with those cracks. Use a sanding block to sand the flange down so it is flat and it'll be fine.

Don't waste time getting it welded.

I wouldn't re-use that manifold with cracks that large - junk it or send it in as a core for BNRs.

Garfinkle does more than just welding, he adds a ton of new metal to the manifold - then it gets ceramic coated.

Good suggestions all, however I don't think I was clear. I already have a replacement set of twins, that I have been working on. These came off a, supposedly, 50,000 mile motor from Japan. They seem in good shape, only two very small cracks that were only seen after cleaning them up.

I have ported the waste gate and cleaned up the paths, beveled the edges to help limit cracks, and made all the gasket areas flat and smooth. I will post pix in the next day or two of the turbos.

I do have some pix of the exhaust manifold, that I have cleaned up to go back to seq. Here they are.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
