Turbo Boost Question
Got a FD newb question:
Just when do the turbos kick in? Does the primary only activate in a certain gear (i.e. 3rd and up) or at a specific RPM? I ask because I don't feel any boost in 1st and 2nd, only in 3rd and above.

Your newbie questions should be answered here:

As for no boost in low gears, it's either check valves (one of the green/black valves is leaking), a loose hose in that area, or a solenoid not working properly.
The first two aren't too hard to pin down, but the third requires some patient diagnostic work or a full vacuum hose job and solenoid testing.

Narrowed it down a bit...
I can push it past 5000 rpm in both 1st and 2nd gear and boost gauge shows no boost. Put it in third and voila, proper boost (10-8-10) pattern.

wastegate issue!!
Had the same problem when your gates let off that extra 2psi to spool your secondary they are getting stuck open. Does your car NOT boost if you quick shift? Does it not boost again until you allow the RPM's to drop below about 3k? If so it's also getting stuck open, or just slowly closing and not getting closed before your putting the car back into boost and all your boost is going, well strait out the window. Could be a carbon build up problem. You may be able to work it off, or something.
good luck hopefully I helped
