Turbo boost drops at 4500 rpm
I have a friend who had an engine failure in his 94. He had some guy put a rebuilt engine in for him. I got involved after he noticed the boost gauge drops to 5 psi when it hits 4500 rpm. There are vacuum lines cracked and plugged. There is also RTV caked all over everything. I bought some silicone vacuum hose and started redoing all of them. MAN, there are a bunch of them! I went to a friend at the local dealership and got some vacuum schematics but they are only partial as they came out of a parts book. Does anyone know where I can get some good vacuum schematics so that I can start diagnosing this thing. The ones on the hood are very obscured.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike Grady

I know about that all too well... hehe.
I have had about the same boost problems ever since I have had my FD(more than just the hoses though). I spent over $1600, no luck, well got some cool parts and narrowed down the problem. After 6 months of owning it and the problems I just went non-sequential. --6 months of stress & questions, 1 hour of work for the change over-- I love the conversion, the power is great, little bit of lag but worth it.
Anyway good luck with the hoses, I have added the link to the diagram down below plus a little more info. If you need any more help post on the forum about it.

Here's exactly what you need: http://www.zeroglabs.com/rx7/reference.htm. As far as the boost dropping to 5 psi, there could be a lot of culprits. Start here. It's a complex system, but it actually starts to make sense when you study it over and over and over...

7-sins,
In your last installment of As the Boost Turns, weren't you gonna check the CRV? That didn't pan out, or did you even try it? I've been very slowly troubleshooting a secondary problem myself. At least it's been cool learning about the system.

After looking over the turbo diagram for a while I was almost 100% sure it was the TCA or its control solenoids. Pulling the car back apart after having it down for two weeks wasn't the things I was looking to do. The CRV seems to be fine; I have it holding the pressure of the secondary now. I just pulled off its vacuum line, that way it is always closed. I was more worried about the secondary spooling, period. The TCA controls the exhaust flow to the secondary, if that door isn't opening, the secondary won’t work
