Note that at first glance the Origin front bumper looks similar to the M Sports but if you stare at the details the differences become quite apparent.

The hood is a strange one. It looks a lot like the knightsports vented hood. Except that on the knightsport, the main vents are inset and it also has additional vents by the firewall.

The closest match that I can see is David Haye's custom vented OEM hood:

No water issues and every now and then I hose down and clean the engine bay.
Is your brother-in-law's hood fiberglass/CF or steel/aluminum (aka OEM material)?

Methinks you have a strong interest in kits.

That is terrific info. Thanks so much.

Interesting that the rear fenders are overfenders, in that the bodywork on the car is extremely smooth, like ceramic.

It would be interesting to know which shop in Japan actually did the work.

The engine bay is old school tuner special, as well.

lol not really kits, just RX-7's in general and I'd figured that after 7 years of ownership your brother-in-law deserved to know about his car.

No problem, glad you got some answers. I'm really curious about the hood tho. Is it made of metal or not?

Here is another view of the hood. Is that a makers mark in the lower left corner?

Do I see white Mazdaspeed Gauges?

Actually that looks like a stock hood. Most likely the previous owner cut vents into it very much like David Hayes did to his.

Food for thought.

Looks like a fairly large underpiece was attached.

I dunno. Look at that hood again. I feel like they wouldn't do the sculpting like that to a stock hood for such simple vents.

Yeah I noticed that too. But I'm basing it on all the detail/bracing on the underside of the hood. Aftermarket companies don't really do that (except Mazdaspeed but that's not really aftermarket). Note that David's hood has the OEM insulator in place and that's why you can't see all the detail. Here is an OEM one without the insulator:

As far as I know not one single aftermarket company makes a metal vented hood. So forget the food for thought, just text your brother in law already and ask him if the hood is metal or not.

I have not been granted access. The car is in storage somewhere. He is not inclined to go take a look.

End of story for now.

BC Another Mystery Kit

New owner said mods were done at least 10 years ago and the car has been in storage ever since. He does not know the maker of the kit.

What's your guess?

Front bumper, with lip, is a single piece.

No Idea. It almost looks like a Euro bumper but the lip is all wrong. Plus the lip on the Euro comes seperate.
