trying to find the original owner of my car

my car is a 93 touring model. it was originally montego blue. Who ever owned the car painted it yellow. but its not a cym yellow. the guy i bought the car from 6 years ago said it was already painted when he bought it. now i need to have something painted and i want it to match. I tried going to a local paint shop to have it scanned and it comes up as #690523 yellow from nason national fleet.

the car had 99 spec turbos, racing beat single exhaust, pfc, hks intake kit, greddy pulley kit, and a m2 racing downpipe. i dont know if the orig owner did these mods or not. the guy i bought it off of lived in mississippi. ill be happy to post the vin# if that helps. thanks!

Pics would probably help. You could also try a Carfax, it should tell you where the car was originally registered.

Even you find the original owner and locate the actual paint code you still have the issue that paint fades over time and varies from batch to batch. So what I am trying to say is that the shop is going to have to work at matching the paint no matter what avenue you take. Thus looking for the original owner may not be really worth it.

Just something to think about

i hear ya, but atleast i would have somewhere to start, rather then guessing that the "paint match" is close and end up having to paint the whole car

Do the carfax. It should give you a list of all the owners. There may be many of them. Most likely the original owner is not the one that repainted the car.
