True Dual Exhaust?

I realize exhaust has been discussed ad nauseum on this forum, however I'm wondering why noone is running true or even fake dual exhaust...any ideas? limited undercarage space, ricey sound, ugly look?

It is impossible to run a "true" dual exhaust being that there is a single outlet from the turbos. For a "fake" dual exhaust, there really is very little room underneath to mount one. That, the extra weight, coupled with the fact that it would look rediculous on a FD ( I think most people here would agree with me) is the reason why no one does it.

On my old FC I wouldnt consider anyting but a dual setup, being I think it really set off the look of the car. The FD just isnt the case.

I agree - I think the FD is one of few cars where the lines do not lend themselves well to dual exhaust.

I coulda sworn there was a pic a few years back of a guy who had a custom y-pipe made, and dual exhaust on his 7. Definitely didn't look right...don't know why. I searched like crazy for the pic back then, but couldn't find it.

ah well it was just a question..I figured two turbos, it'd be possible. anyway, if thered be no appreciable gain, maybe even a loss, theres no reason to keep discussing.

Somebody photoshopped at FD with duals a year or two ago. Im sure if you searched you might be able to find it. It kinda looked really bad though...

For folks doing a custom twin turbo, it could be done, but 1) there is little space to route the exhaust on the left side of the gas tank and 2) it would still result in an awkward and unequal length of piping since they are both on the same side of the engine.

I also remember seeing pics - somebody _REALLY_ wanted a dual canister setup, and they got it done...IIRC

The only non-chopped dual exhaust pic I've ever seen on an FD:

Apparently there's a true dual exhaust called the ShotGun Exhaust by Sheep Dog Japan. I don't have pics of it, however.

Here's a real pic of a dual exhaust, but like the AbFlug FD (this is sunnyxwala's friend's FD):

A few pics of ya (I think all of these are photochops though:

This one's the most common (this is the original...I couldn't find a copy of the photochopped one. Maybe someone else can post it...):

Another:

Aaaand...for fun LOL

ok. you are all right. It does not look very good. With an aftermarket rear bumper cover you might be able to make it look right but, not with the stock bumper. I don't like the idea of having it in the middle either. Thanx for the pics.

is that yours silverbullet? I really like it. Not enough to go moving the gastank or trying to force equal length piping, but I like that a lot, its very tasteful.

I think the car would look good like that. Thats what I kind of thought it would look like. What about two rotor shaped tips like the 8? Can anyone photoshop that up. Thanx.

I don't think an FD would look bad with a dual exhaust. It might be a good choice for an LS1 conversion.

Yeah.. I live in Eugene (not far away from TurboJeff). So yes, I'm a Duck fan (which good some year's and not so good others... it just happens to be good this year :-). I don't have any pics of the rear end of a RX-8, otherwise I would be tempted to try. Supply me with a couple of pics and I'll see what I can do (I'm not that good with either PhotoShop or Paintshop Pro).

you know what? I thought the 8 had rotor shaped exhaust tips, I guess I was wrong. I was thinking of something I saw with rotor shaped tips but not an rx-8. Oh well, looks good anyway. Too bad technically this would probably not work but, good photoshopping on that pic Richard.
