trouble with new wiring harness

Has anyone else with a new wiring harness (main one for the engine, ECU, etc.) had trouble with the length? Specifically the part going to the driver's side of the engine? That seems to be my only problem with it. I can pull it forward but then it pulls all the solenoids in the rats nest forward too. I'm really starting to get pissed off.

I've tried every way I can run it, haha. Actually I think what the problem is that I wrapped every inch of the harness with insulation tape from Thermo-Tec, even the little parts of the wire going to the solenoids, so those are like solid little parts now and there's no play in it. I guess I'll have to go back through and remove all that. Dammit. I think once I do that I MAY be able to get it to be long enough, with enough slack.

I used X-Treme Tape from Summit. However, the last time I looked, I couldn't find it in their online catalog anymore.

Well the stuff I used is flexible too, but not when it's cut so short haha. I still have a bad feeling it's just too short though. I mean, I WILL make it work, but it might not be pretty haha. I had to walk away cause I have a tendency to tear things up when I'm angry lol. I had already broken a brand new mixing plate into the engine and had to take off the turbos and LIM to get it, luckily the engine is still out on the floor so everything is pretty easy to get to still. I just can't get a break with this damn thing. I'm just going to cut off those little parts and hopefully it will be alot more pliable.

Nope, it's not too short. However, Mazda doesn't give you ANY "wiggle" room. Question though, did you remove the stock coating and then re-wrap? Or did you just wrap over the stock coating?

I just wrapped over the stock coating. I'm sure that doesn't help either. I was saying I cut the tape so short and I think it's wrapped a couple times over on those little wires going to each solenoid, and when it's like that there is no play in it at all. Basically it's pushing the solenoids out to where I wouldn't be able to get the ignition coils back in if I didn't move them back into place. But the little wires are "stiff-arming" the solenoids out of place. So I'm just going to take the tape off those little parts.

Well I removed the thermal wrap from the little wires for the solenoids and I got it to work, and got alot more done tonight too. Thanks for the help guys.
