tried it all... hood still squeaks!
i tried all kinds of lubes on the little rubber things and my hood still squeaks... it gets better for a few days, then comes right back! help please!
Get some good quality synthetic grease (Mobil 1) and lube all four rubber stops and MORE importantly, the latch itself. I just smear a large glob right on the curved metal latch on the hood.
It will last 3-4 months, depending on how many times you wash your car and engine bay.

It took me a while to find why my hood was squeaking, turned out it was the hood latch (at the middle of the hood closest to the front bumper). I sprayed the hook and the "loop" with WD-40, and I haven't heard it squeak for the past few months.

used duct tape around the latch hook..
which was the culprit of the noise..

Two steps to stopping the squeak:
1) duct tape on the U-loop of the hood latch; you'll need to replace this every 6 months or so.
2) get some little plastic or rubber washers and put them under the four rubber stops to cause them to touch the hood a little tighter. You can cut the washer to get them over the stops.
