Hi all,

i have a 93 rx7 with a tranny issue. my 5th gear act as neutral ...when i shift to 5th and give it gas it just rev high like its in neutral. my 1-4 and reveres are perfectly fine

can some of you help me out and point me to the right place to fix it. thanks in advance

 

Sounds like you have a slipping clutch. Generally, the clutch starts slipping in the upper gears and then works it way down. Is your car modified? If so, what's done to the car and what type of clutch is currently in it?

 

i dont think it's the cluth because its a new ACT cluth. i'm thinking the 5th gear ring crack or is loose... i dont know much about tranny.

 

Take it to a transmission shop or an RX-7 shop.

you mentioned the new ACT clutch, but did you deplace just the clutch disk or the clutch plate and pressure plate? my friend couldn't figure out why his brand new clutch was slipping it ended up being a bad pressure plate.
