Transmission stuck on motor

I pulled the motor out of my car last night and i opted for taking out the motor/trans combo and its a good thing i did. when it was laying on the garage floor i took the bellhousing bolts out and removed the starter and the small bolt behind it and proceeded to pull the tranny off. but it stopped at about 2 inches. it seemed to be hanging up on the throw out bearing or clutch fork. I took the inspection plates off and looked in with a light and couldnt see anything holding it up. i finally got annoyed and took the pressure plate bolts off and let the clutch and pressure plate come off with the trans. is there some trick i am missing here? and btw how big is that flywheel nut? holy crap! i need to get to sears and get a set of huge sockets. well thanks in advance guys for your help

Not being a dick but if you had checked you would have seen the fd has a clip ring on the throw bearing, called a release collar. You will need to release it to get the pressure plate off.

I think it's a clever design... It's a pull clutch. They're all like that. Porsche and others have done this too.
