transmission reinstallation Question
I pulled the motor out to do a overhual, and its about done. I was told it is better to remove the tranny completely from the car and then reassemble the motor and tranny, then get it back in there. The reason for this was because of a pin that could slip out of place and you would not know till you tried to drive and it does not go any where.
What pin are they talking about?
Are there any common mistakes that people tend to do while reinstalling the motor/tranny?
Thanks guys for your help, and in light of the common sence post a while ago, i hope this is not in cross with that. Thanks again.

i am going to guess the "clip" that holds the throwout bearing. i have missed it trying to rush...
i dont understand the logic you used though....if you can not tell untill you drive the car...what would pulling the trans out with it do?
i would say i would rather unbolt a few trans bolts than to unbolt the entire trany, take the driveshaft out and still have to unbolt the PP from the flywheel while the motor and trans is out. just makes no sence to me. maybe thats just me though...

As of now
As of now the tran is still connected to the driveshaft. I pulled the motor out alone. People (local shops) are telling me to go ahead and pull the tran out also, then connect it to the motor and stick it all back in. I was told that if done this way the clip/pin(i really dont know) will not slip, thus saving you time if it did. Because (I am assuming) with the entire engine /tranny all back together, ready to reinstall, there is no way of knowing if it sliped/came loose or whatever.
Bacically I watch the video on the steps to pull out the motor, and in it they did remove the engine w/o the tranny. Thats the way I did it. They movie said when reinstalling the motor just do the steps in reverse.
What do you think?

just take a rachet and poke the handle into where the slave cylinder goes and push on the clutch fork. if there is no or little resistance then its not in. Before you do this you may want to make sure the fork isnt all the way down already, u can do this with your fingers. If you can pull it up with your fingers, its not in.
