Transmission noise?
Transmission noise?
At idle with the clutch in the transmission is making a whining noise. When you press in the clutch it goes away. The noise gets louder the faster the gears spin and it makes noise in every gear. I took transmission out and thinking it is the main bearing. It's apart but the main bearing seems perfectly fine. The only thing was the car didn't have much gear oil. Is that the cause or is there somewhere else I should be looking?
Thanks,
Jeremy

something similar happen to me a long time ago and it was the clutch Throw-out Bearing. This was on my old turbo II so I don't know if this is your problem but i hope it helps.
See i thought the throw-out bearing was bad if they made noise when you push them in, because that's when they are under load. But the transmission is out I will check out that bearing too.
believe it or not that throw out bearing was new when i installed it and it made that noise. It seemed to me that the bearing was dry.
You said your main shaft bearings are good, how about the needle roller bearing, which is on the inside of your main shaft? That can go bad giving you a whinning noise with the clutch pedal release.
