Angry Transmission help!!!

well here goes car runs perfect except since going to the track---problem now:bad grinding sound coming from transmission when car is running --car still drives and shifts perfect other then a severe grinding noise --here is the kicker the noise dissappears when the clutch pedal is depressed to the floor and there is no load on the tranny---the noise happens in every gear including neutral as long as the clutch pedal is not depressed to the floor--any ideas????????

Thanks in advance

Bad bearing in the tranny. could get luck and be a throw out bearing but sounds to good to be true. Any way start taking the trany out you will find it when it is taken apart.

i did replace most of the bearings in the tranny and put it back together drove on it about 100 miles or so to slowly break them in and then jumped on the accelerater and once again i now have this noise and i guess i was trying to cut out telling the whole story cause of the length --i was wondering if there was a certain thing that might be causing this problem---
ie: bent countershaft, bent diveshaft---the original cause was launching at the track on street tires and got severe wheel hop and when i shifted hard into second i heard a loud clank and the noise has been there ever since --well thought i fixed it once --just leaning toward a new tranny but i am fearing it happening again to the new tranny--sorry so half assed explanation but i hate typing --Ryan

Theres many things that move in a tranny so it could be a lot. A bent shaft will eventually worp the case, in my experiance.

Sorry to hear that you have tore it down once, but it looks like you are going to do it again. I is possible that the imput shaft could be bent from the abuse. YOu should of known better to shift so hard when your wheels are bouncing up and down. Your lucky your diff didnt blow on you too.

If you keep drag racing you may want to do a lot of suspension stuff these cars really arn't made do take that abuse. That wheel hop is a reall killer on the rear of these cars so I would take a look there before you take it back to the track. Some drag radials will work wonders as well.
