transmission and differentail fluid?
transmission and differentail fluid?
Hey guys i about to change my tran and diff fluid.I'm going to use redline MT90 on the tran what i need to know can i use the MT90 in the diff too?
See what the FSM says. I think it will call for a GL-5 product in the differential. If it does, don't put it in the differential. A GL-5 is probably needed because the action of the differential gears is different than that of the trans because the gear teeth are shaped differently.
The MT90 is a GL-4 only. the FSM says you can use a GL-4 or 5 in the trans but it has been found that the sulphur additives used in GL-5, even the newer reformulated ones that don't oxidize that brass syncro rings will still wear them more quickly. That's one reason some people here use that product in the trans.
