Question Tranny making funny noise.....

Hey guys, I've got a question for ya. I'm currently deployed to Iraq, and right before i left, i had my tranny rebuilt and clutch replaced. I took it to AAMCO a month before i deployed to get the all the work done, and when i picked it up i noticed something strange. If i don't press the clutch down all the way to the mat, the clutch will grind when going into 2nd gear. Is this normal for a new clutch and tranny? Do you think i should replace the tranny fluid that AAMCO put in with some High quality stuff like red line? Does anyone know if there is a instructional document on here that has instructions for replacing the tranny fluid? I'm not that familar with the rx-7, only had it for a couple months before i deployed. I'm mostly concerned with the tranny though. Thanks for the help.

did you check to see if your 'sweet spot' was still in the stock location (ie engage point for clutch)?

Yeah, you might just need to bleed the clutch hydraulics. It's probably something simple.

#1 what do you mean the clutch grinds?

you mean the shifter grinds gears going into second?

or you feel and hear a grinding coming from the clutch pedal when you clutch in.

to answer you question, you should look into buying or downloading a Factory Service Manual for your car. you can download one online somewhere and it'll tell you how to swap fluid or bleed the clutch.

but i were you i'd clutch to the floor. that's proper driving anyway.

Yeah, i'll just clutch it to the floor when i get back(hopefully she'll still be working, shes been sitting there for 7 months, and i don't have any word on how she's doing. I appologize for not being more clean, the stick is grinding and won't go into gear unless the clutch is floored or at low rpms.
