tranny issues

is there a tranny swap of a 93 rx-7. My tranny is shot and I dont want to replace it or rebuild it if i am going to keep having problems with it. Second gear syncro is gone and it has started whineing (??? spelling) like it normanlly does in reverse in all gears. It has also become hard to shift in all gears. My guess is I lost a bearing somewhere in the tranny. I don't want to spend the money fixing it if I am going to have the same problems agiain in 10 or 20 thoustand miles. Is there a swap for a better tranny? Mabey a six speed? t-56???
Thanks for your help.

No. Stock is the only option in your case.

Have a good transmission shop look at it. The stock box is pretty tough, just put in new synchros, bearings, seals, and whatever else needs fixed. Get them to suggest WHY it broke - sometimes it just happens, but many times they can tell what was happening. Usually these trannies last fine in 400+ hp cars.

Check the plastic bushing on the end of the shifter. I just installed my GR Short throw tonight and my old bushing had disentagrated(sp). I spent at least 20 mins fishing out the peices from the shifter area. Once installed it goes in all the gears without any problems, were before it was really hard to get into any gear. Hope this helps a little.

You can order a new one from mazda. I got mine for like $4. It attaches to the end of the shifter. If you didn't find yours, I'd order one to put on.

Oh, and tranny fluid doesn't smell as bad as the fluid in the Main tranny on a Black Hawk helo. That stuff really makes everything else in life smell good.
