Tranny feels and sounds empty

Had my car jacked up earlier today to drain oil, I noticed oil dripping from my transmission area but thought it was just a bad oil leak coming from my rear engine housing seal. Cuz my engine is leaking oil pretty bad...In need of a re-seal. Anyways, I was driving off to see how it feels and noticed my gears are feeling really rough, Im having alot of trouble getting in gear, I have to apply some actuall pressure now to engage. Had my bro drive it into the garage for me so I could listen and it sounds empty, like there is no liquid inside...maybe its my imagination.

My engine has 93,000 miles on it......anyone here ever heard of transmission seals going bad? If so, could somone point me to a internet site where I could pick up a re-seal kit, I'd prolly have time over Christmass to go to work on it should it need it.

Thanks,

Have you replaced fluid??

Sound like some other stuff. You can check the fluid level from under the car if you can get it jacked up enough. Have you had someone do work on the tranny lately?? Fluid change perhaps??

Other then that, you should get it checked out before your synchros go out on you (and lots of other damage).

Have her of people putting in the wrong fluid and having the tranny act like this (ATF instead of regular standard tranny fluid).

Tranny Fluid?

No, I dont beleive the transmission has ever been touched. I just changed the oil, I think Im gona have to take off the protective plate to get my hands to the fill cap where I can check out the levles in the transmission.

Arrow Not that bad

Plate comes off very easy, not a problem.

Tons of access space on the fill side to check the level. If you can't feel the level, get some of the gear fluid for the tranny and start filling it until it flows over like it should, if you put in more then a quart, there are issues.

Hard to believe that this just started all at once right after an oil change. Did you notice any other fluid comming out of the tranny while you had it jacked up?? Sometimes they leak around the snout that connects to the drive shaft if the gasket is bad and the front is much higher then the back. Not too common but I have seen it once or twice.

Leakage when jacked

Yes,

The car started exibiting a more frequent "drip" once I had the front of my car elevated... But, none the less it leaks regardless... just more frequent when jacked, I'm gona have to take a look at it tomorrow afternoon...

Any recommendations on what kind of gear oil I should put in there? My bro recently did his tranny w/ some synthetic Mobile 1, not sure of the weight...

If you wanted the defininition of a leak, you would want to refer to my car. Its like an ice skating rink every morning I take step onto my already smooth driveway. You mentioned somthing about checking engine mounts for leaks? Where can I locate these suckers.
