tranny/clutch question

after rebuilding
i just bled my clutch through the clutch release cylinder
the clutch pedal itself seems to be rebounding fine
i noticed i can change gears without having to push down (compressing) the clutch pedal,
what would cause this (or what am i missing)?

Maybe I'm missing something, but if the engine is not running the clutch pedal will not usually need to be depressed to change gears...
