cut seat foam, more room

So ive always hated how high the stock seating position is, especially because im pretty tall. Bucket seat is on the list for sure but there are a few other items i would like to get first so I thought I would try and lower the seating position of the stock seat.

I cut all this foam out of the seat pad

It was about 2-2.5" or so which gave me that much extra headroom and the side bolsters are now much more functional since sitting lower in the seat makes them cover more of your legs.

Also I can just fit in the car with my helmet now, im 6'2". There isnt enough room as I would like, but I think with some more trimming it may be enough. Its still pretty comfortable although think i will cut a small amount out of the very back of the side bolsters as it now feels a little tight there on the hips.

Bump this for a great idea. How do you open up the seat to remove cushion? Also, anybody ever modify the OE rails/mounting brackets for the same effect?

when you take the seat out of the car you will see lots of brass looking metal rings on the bottom that crimp the cover to the seat. The metal is pretty soft and flexible and you can pry them open to remove the cover and re-use them when you are finished, they can be pinched closed again.
